3D – Oktapodi
A cute little animation involving some octopi and their struggles to stay together, despite one chef’s intentions.

3D – Nature by numbers
This is kind of slow and doesn’t really go anywhere, but it’s still pretty interesting. It’s an artistic representation of numbers in nature, obviously, highlighting different principles of math and incorporating it into different subjects of nature.

Galileo
Another wonderful animation done by a french team. The french are really on top of animation given their quality of art. The imagery used to create this unique world is very appealing, blending painted backdrops with cleverly expressive characters. Do enjoy. Galileo from Ghislain Avrillon on Vimeo.

Pirates – Curse of the Evil Eye
I imagine Modest Mouse – King Rat‘s animation style would have come out like this. This was done by a french group, although it’s spoken in English. Enjoy a little cute in your life. PIRATES!!! “The Curse of the Evil Eye” from Rémy Tornior & Yves Geleyn on Vimeo.

Spy Vs. Pyro – TF2 Cartoon
So I realize many of you aren’t big gamers and therefore would be unfamiliar with the characters in this cartoon. This an online first person shooter called Team Fortress 2 that is class based. Each class had different abilities and perks. Spies can obviously look like other people, carry knives for stabbing people in the…

3D – The Lady & The Reaper
I found this on a Spanish website, and apparently this was co-produced by Antonio Banderas. It’s a light-hearted comedy about a woman whose time has come until a doctor brings her back. Death disagrees and hijinks ensue. While the laughs aren’t original, the video is a lot of good silly fun.

Massive Attack – Splitting the Atom
Now I’m not the biggest Massive Attack fan. I think they have made some good music, and while I have never been that enthralled by that genre of music, I always knew they were a little stranger than most. This video is a perfect example of that. It’s a good combination of slow and minimal…

Vanishing Point
This is an awesome art project that I took my time debating whether or not to post. I was conflicted as to whether it would be well received. It is very abstract and is more of a visual guide to the music, using various simple shapes to just be visual eye candy. It starts a…

Your WTF for the day – The Duplicators
Every couple of years Cartoon Network changes up it’s mascot to better suit the demography and their change in tastes. Toonami had a big update with their mascot, KND gave the CN logo a change, and Adult Swim even had at one point update to their black & white cue card setup from a bland…

3D – A.D.
This is a teaser trailer for what I believe is a short film entitled “A.D.”. It’s a 3D zombie animation that left me craving for more. You can read an interview of some of the people who worked on it, whose credentials include working on the game “Heavenly Sword” and the movie “300”. The interview…

Les Dangereux
This is a 3D animation done by Daniel Klug. It’s done in Maya and was finished in 9 months. The characters are very vivid and alive in this animation involving the love between two ninjas. Les Dangereux from RedForty on Vimeo.

The Third & The Seventh – Alex Roman
Starting the New Year with one of the more surreal videos I’ve seen in a while. The video is done by Alex Roman and is more of a concept piece. It’s 12 minutes, so you might not want to watch all of it. But maybe you will if you know that the entire piece was…

Lucky
A surreal 3D animation with a message about animal cruelty, this video is short and sweet with a very dark mood to it. You might not enjoy it as much as I did. Lucky from EB Hu on Vimeo.

Alma
Alma is a 3D short directed by Rodrigo Blass. It’s a little strange, especially given the light-hearted approach, but the quality speaks for itself. All the sounds were perfectly crisp going along with the cleverly constructed 3D designs. It’s won a few awards, and it might not be up for long, so watch it while…

Animation – Sebatian's VooDoo
Found another cool animation. This was done by a Canadian who submitted it into the Cannes Short Film festival. The textures and modeling are all pretty well done, with my only complaints being sound and the movements bothered me just once or twice, but otherwise a choice piece.
