  • Your WTF for the day – Glenn Beck

    Now Glenn Beck has had the opportunity to make an idiot out of himself on television multiple times. And I normally shy away from political statements on the site. But regardless of where you stand on him politically, you need to watch this. It’s almost as good as an SNL skit, and I swear there should have been an audience there.

  • Vent?

    I wonder why I question myself. Or why I am unconvinced that this is a vent? Perhaps because a vent generally allows me to let off steam, and I doubt that I will feel any relief from writing any of this. But write I must(er) though I should be working. I even took a sick day yesterday despite my standard physical health. Does sick mental health count? Or is that only valid when it’s reached the point of a breakdown? I don’t know.

  • Your WTF for the day – So long Hyphen.

    In a recent development,

    About 16,000 words have succumbed to pressures of the Internet age and lost their hyphens in a new edition of the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary.Bumble-bee is now bumblebee, ice-cream is ice cream and pot-belly is pot belly.

    And if you’ve got a problem, don’t be such a crybaby (formerly cry-baby).

    “Printed writing is very much design-led these days in adverts and Web sites, and people feel that hyphens mess up the look of a nice bit of typography,” he said. “The hyphen is seen as messy looking and old-fashioned.”

    Poor old hyphen. I will miss you. More here.

    Found a recent movie reviewer that I find delightful. Her doses of cynicism are right up my alley and I laughed out loud quite a few times at her review of Pocahontas. In all honesty, it’s not a hard movie to rag but I think she does a stand-up job (although she is sitting throughout the review. Get over it, you over-literal bastard).
